BREAD is important in my life. Bread is for me not only a staple food, something what I grew up eating for breakfast, lunch and in between. It is a symbol. Symbol of home, comfort, family and community. Bread is to be shared and enjoyed. It is an extraordinary ordinary gift which one can give to another. This year, in the time of pandemic, I started to bake bread at home (click here for YouTube video). At first with not much success, with frustration of getting the right ingredients in the right quantity, temperature and time of proving the yeast, the right pot for baking and some other obstacles. But slowly, I started to change the frustration into determination and each bread I baked was giving me another lesson to learn. I learnt to be patient, to improve, to give it another try. I enjoyed the excitement of waiting how would it turn out. Bread making united people living in my house in excitement of waiting for cutting the crunchy crust and enjoying few first slices with butter, and joyful chat accompanying this special moment. Bread became for me the symbol of Eucharist in daily life.
