Sometimes I wonder what was Jesus’s favourite dish when he would go to visit Martha, Mary and Lazarus? (John 11) I am sure that his friends knew so well what would make him happy and bring Him comfort in His challenging ministry. Would that be a savoury dish E.g. cooked fish or some sweet treat of figs and honey? I would imagine that when Jesus has gone, his friends and the disciples, would recall those memories of dining with Him when having a meal in a similar way as they would recall the significance of the Last Supper with their Master. One of the family memories I carry with me is a simple dish.
Just imagine this:-boiled broad beans-a bit of butter-plenty of continental parsley-salt– butter milk/kefir to drink. That’s all. Simple, yummy, something what my family would eat at the time when broad beans are in season in early summer. No, it is not a traditional Polish food. It was just something what four of us would enjoy. Something what makes us remember about one another. Simple memories can bring back people or events which we want to cherish in our life. What are your simple memories?
