Life is full of challenges

This year challenged all of us. We had to face the reality which we did not choose, get out of our comfort zones, learn new skills. We had to do what was necessary and while life pushed us to the limits, we also have done things which we would not expect. If you follow my brief stories and on this blog, you learn that in year 2020 I made my own bread. This year I also made–a dessert my “to do one day” list. So, I started my little preparation for making this dessert by researching the recipes, purchasing ramekins and a small kitchen torch to make the famous layer “cracking effect”. My first dessert almost ended up in the sink–the mixture curdled and rather baked, not steamed. Only one or two portions were edible. Luckily for me, the sisters in the house liked it and encouraged me to try again. So, I analysed all mistakes made, asked a few people for the tips for improvement and tried again. The result was much better. The consistency was great, time in the oven right, torching the top made the crispy surface, but I did not estimate the quantity in each ramekins very well and as a result–had a half-full (or half- empty) portions to serve. Till now, I have made it a few times and still do not deliver the perfect dessert. But I keep trying! Every time I make another lot – I learn something new and despite of my failures there is always someone who still hope that I will continue mastering this dessert no matter how long it takes.  St Paul in the letter to Galatians (6:9) said: Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Whatever you do–as small as making a dessert and as big as supporting big cause (name yours here…)–do not grow weary! Try again. In due season it will be good.

P.S. If you have a good recipe for crème brûlée, please share it with me–I am still learning 😆 .
