Do you remember the scene from the first Shrek movie in which he explains to donkey that everyone has layers?
This is one of my favourite scenes which, humorously, reminds us we are all quite complex. It also reminds me that there are areas of our life which we might want to keep to ourselves and never share with anyone. And this is all understandable. There are layers of our inner being which are intimate and not everyone needs to know about them. The sensitivity of those come from those sacred places–we might carry scars, wounds, traumatic events from the past or just feel overwhelmed with what we have to deal with in our life. There are things which we can deal with ourselves and we know best what help us overcome our “blues”. Sometimes talking to someone who understands and accepts you, help us feel better. But sometimes we need to seek professional help. Just recently I watched the series “The me you can’t see”.
The series presents incredible stories of celebrities and very ordinary people and their struggles with mental health. Knowing what they had and continue to go through in their lives made me realise once more that we never know others and we should never judge others. What we see on the surface is not necessarily a real picture of one’s life challenges. The pandemic which we are all going through triggers a lot of our vulnerabilities. It exposes the most sensitive layers of our lives which sometimes need a professional help. A great range of help for people of all ages can be available from https://parracatholic.org/withyou/. Don’t be alone in your difficulties–reach out to others. Get help.
And reach out to God, too. He is there for you in any circumstances – don’t forget these numbers⬇️⬇️⬇️. The words from the Bible are words of understanding and consolation, and hope!

Have a good week, everyone.
