Something About Walking

I love walking. Walking makes me think better. Walking relaxes me. Walking helps me to concentrate when I need to memorize something. Walking helps me to pray.
My favourite place for walking is by the ocean. I was raised in the shipyard city and the proximity to the sea made me appreciate the power and the beauty of the water. Moving to Australia and living not too far from the ocean, made me feel “at home” again. There are many verses in the Bible talking about the presence of God in the ocean: Bible verses about the ocean.
There is something majestic and spiritual about the water. There is a strong presence of God in the water. He, who created the universe and every human being is present in the water – which can give life and destroy.
Last year, I had the privileged to spend a few weeks in the Holy Land. You can read more about it on: Coming Home. Walking in places of our ancestors in faith lived (including Jesus himself) was a wonderful experience for me. I was particularly in awe realizing the distances the people in Jesus’s time had to walk in a tough, desert landscape or going through the hills and valleys for days in order to meet their needs of working, going to the marketplaces or making their pilgrimage journey to the precious places of their faith. Seeing the place, the realization of the fact that Jesus walked on the water of the Sea of Galilee, again, amazed me. The reading of the Bible will never be the same after being in places which marked by the presence of Jesus who is not only tests our faith, but strengthens our relationship with Him through possible and impossible life experiences.
There is a saying: Take one step at a time. Walking through life is taking many of “one step” moments.
May your walking be prayerful and never be lonely. May the company of Jesus and special people in your life makes each step special and possible, especially on the road less traveled.
Walk happily in your journey?.
